Champ Autocross 8/28 - AROC Detroit

AROC Detroit is hosting a Champ event on Sunday, August 28 at Oakland University, 2200 North Squirrel Road, at Walton Road, in Rochester. We will be in the North end of the really nice big lot. Registration (at the event) will be open by 10 am and will remain open until 1 pm. There is no pre-registration. FCO will be at 11 am. Free fun runs for workers after timed runs. Passing of a friend

BARBARA JANE BUSH of Plymouth , Mi., age 65 passed away July 29 , 2011.

She was born in Dearborn , Mi. the daughter of Clyde & Blanche (Lark) Thrasher. She grew up in Dearborn and met her husband Donald E Bush at the Dearborn Youth Center . They dated for five years and married on June 11, 1966.

Barbara attended Detroit Business College and worked as a legal secretary and as an executive secretary at ARA Food Service before becoming a co- owner in O. & D. Bush Jewelers, for 30 years.

Barb raced Corvettes with her husband at local, state, and national level, participating in autocross and tracks racing across the country. She earned many club and regional championships. She was a member of the Corvette Club of Michigan, and the National Council Corvette Clubs, for 35 years and the Legend Corvette Club.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Donald Bush of Plymouth , Mi and daughter Tammy Cameron of Concord , N.C. and son-in-law Dave Cameron. Her brother Ken (Linda) Thrasher of Sterling Heights, Mi.

Thanks for braving the rather cool late spring weather- the track sure was a lot of fun! And the few that stuck around for fun runs had a great time getting a total of 9 runs in for the day. Always good to be able to burn through the tires.

The MSCC is hosting the DCSCC Champ Event #4 on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Belle Isle, Detroit. The lot is on the South West end of the island, near the fountain. If you are not preregistered, you must register between 9 AM and 11 AM. If you preregistered, register between 9 AM and 1 PM. Tech will be open until 1 PM. Details are on myautoevents.com.

Champ Autocross 6/12 - AROC Detroit

AROC Detroit is hosting a Council Champ autocross on June 12 at Oakland University, 2200 Squirrel Road, in the big parking lot P1 at the corner of Squirrel and Walton Road.

Registration will be open by 10:00am, will be open until 1:00pm and FCO is 11:00am.

NOTE: in case the weather forecast for Sunday is not favorable, please come back to this spot for Go/No-Go decision updates.

2011 Champ Series Registration is open

Registration for the 2011 DCSCC Champ autocross series is now open! As always, you must be a member of one of the Council clubs to join the series, and the cost to register is $5 per entrant. If you are one of the top 10 overall or top 3 ladies from the 2010 series, your entry is free, though you do still need to register. I would also ask that you pay attention to the limitations on numbers on the “NUMBER ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURE” section of the registration form.

Your humble (volunteer) Registrar greatly prefers it if you register online because it’s easier for me and better for the planet. You can do so here: http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=11976

However, if you do insist on mailing in a paper registration form, there is a PDF available here. You also have the option of registering online and sending a check for payment if you choose.

As of right now, I am planning on being at the Council Awards Banquet on March 5 at Kart2Kart, so I should be able to take registrations in person there.

Thanks for all who came out- with the rather light turn out, we were able to finish pretty early, and get plenty of fun runs.

A special thanks to all of those who worked- without you all, we could not put on any events. We hope all 5(!) of those FREE FUN RUNS were worth the effort.

We hope to see you all again at Belle Isle on July 25. And REMEMBER YOUR NUMBERS. With the great sucess of re-using numbers, our registration sped up quite a bit, and errors were down. Well, at least we hope.

Just a reminder that AROC will be hosting Champ Autocross #6 on June 13- and it WILL be up at OU, lot 1. No, really, we mean it this time....

One note- for those of you who are NOT council members, or have numbers OVER 200, please remember which number you had, as we will be re-using them throughout the season for AROC Events. Makes registration just a little quicker.

Ok, resolution is in place for our last min conflict at OU- I'll try to post this on our website tonight.

Thanks to hard work from AROC member Randy Velikan, we have worked out a compromise to the conflicts with lot P1.

We will be in Lot P-36, which is on the south side of campus- and we will grid in lots 34 and 32.

One major note- due to the construction on Squirrel Rd, all the west entrances for OU are closed, all entries will come from the north end of campus on Walton Rd. Long drive through campus, for sure.

But, we are ON, ON, On.

For the council members, please spread the word to your clubs. I will try to update the autocross page to http://arocdetr.ipower.com/ this afternoon.

Champ Event #2 Results

Results are up. Essentially the same as the preliminary results with a few errors corrected.

It took a while to track down who wanted a Trophy as opposed to a pass.

Where cars from different classes were bumped together, we used the indexed times to determine the bumped class winner for trophy purposes. This does not impact on council points at all.

Champ Event #2

I am only seeing a 60-70%chance starting around 2 or 3 and in the past the wind over the river has seemed to keep the worst of rainstorms over Detroit or Windsor. As of now, the event is still on.

2010 Champ Series Registration

Registration for the 2010 DCSCC Champ series is now open! Everything is pretty much the same as last year, you need to register before April 11 to be able to keep your 2009 number, the registration fee is $5. The only real difference this year is that I'm going to strictly enforce the number limit of 199, higher numbers cause problems for our scorekeepers.

You can register online, or you can download the registration form and send it to me with a check. I encourage you to register online if possible, not only is it faster and "greener", it's easier for me, as well. You can register online if you don't have a Paypal account, there is an option to mail a check if you want to do that. To see what numbers were taken in 2009 (and are likely to be claimed again in 2010), click here.

AROC 9/13/09 Champ Autocross Results

Here are the results from AROC's September 13 Champ event at Oakland U.

Thanks to all of you who came out and supported our club this year- I know it was a brief year as we continue to try to get new lots. But next year we will try to have a few more events for you to enjoy.

AND, one more thing.

Thanks to generous drivers much like yourself, we raised $254 (!) for the Melanoma Research Foundation in Nate Trask's honor. Thank you so much for your thoughts. We won't be the only ones missing him, for sure.

AROC 9/13, Champ #9 at Oakland University

On Sunday, September 13, AROC will be hosting Champ Autocross #9 at Oakland University. It's Lot #1, which runs parallell with Squirrel Rd.

Tech and registration will open at 10am
We should have a drivers meeting at 10:30 or so- and tech and registration will close during this so that our volunteers can walk the course, too.

First car out will be roughtly 11am.

Weather permitting, we will be doing fun runs, which will be free to all workers, and $2/run for all who do not work. On that note, if you don't have any intention to work, PLEASE do NOT sign up for a worker station. We want to make sure we have workers who will show up when called, not sign up out of guilt- that's not our intention.

Costs- AROC- $20
DCSCC- $25
All others $30.

This event will be dedicated to our fallen member, Nate Trask, and we will have a collection box where we will donate all of the funds to the Melanoma Research Foundation, as the Trask family would like us to do. Please help us celebrate the life of our friend and fellow racer.

AROC Detroit member Nate Trask lost his battle to cancer on August 30, 2009. Nate joined our club through our motorsports activities, through many of our members who also work for Ford. He was very active at all of our autocross events, to the point of joining the board of the Detroit Council of Sports Car Clubs, being the points keeper after he came up with a few unique ways to tally points between the various classes.

While we could never find an Alfa that fit Nate's tall frame, the driving we saw in his Miata was very impressive. Nate was one of the better drivers in not only AROC, but the entire DCSCC. Although watching him drive will be missed, we will miss his presence, his hard work, and his constant smile far more.

AROC Detroit and the DCSCC extends its deepest sympathies to his wife Deb, and his two children, Morgan and Landon.

AROC Detroit

AROC Champ Autocross Aug 2, Belle Isle

Here's a reminder that AROC's first 2009 event is coming up on August 2. The location will be on the Belle Isle paddock, which is commonly used by MSCC.

Tech and registraion offically open at 10am and close at 1pm.

First car out should be at around 11am.

Number of runs will be dependant on weather and the number of participants, but it will be at least 4.

For extra runs, we encourage you to volunteer to work a corner station- for ALL workers, you will recieve a pass for free fun runs (weather permitting) at the end of the event. You should get an additional 3 runs if not 4.

If that's not enough, we then would encourage you to join AROC, as we will have unlimited fun runs once the normal fun runs complete.

AROC rules do state that the current oldest helmet legal is an M95. Once a new standard comes out officially, that will change to M2000. We encourage you to get newer ones than that.

DCSCC now has online registration for the 2009 Champ series, courtesy of MyAutoEvents.com. You will need a MyAutoEvents login and a Paypal account to register this way. I will continue to offer the traditional paper form and check method, as well. The deadline to keep your 2008 number is April 12, 2009. The usual rules about reserved numbers apply and are detailed on the entry form. Also, if you are one of the top 10 drivers or top 3 ladies from 2008, you don't need to pay the $5 registration fee, so don't try to use the online registration (it will force you to go to Paypal). A simple email to the registrar will suffice to let me know you are re-upping for 2009. Important links:

The DCSCC Annual Banquet for the 2008 Season is March 7th, 5 p.m., at Kart2Kart.

In addition to celebrating the winners from 2008, we will also have trophies for the top drivers from 2007.

Results from AROC Detroit's Sept 28 Autocross

AROC Detroit wants to thank all who have participated in our events for 2008, especially those competitors who helped run our event so smoothly. We know that we had a pretty tough season in terms of finding a lot, and for sure we appreciate all of the paitence you have for us.

Special thanks goes out to Oakland University for allowing us to use their #1 lot, and the City of Detroit Parks and Rec Department for allowing us to use the paddock on Belle Isle.

AROC is hosting a Champ autocross on September 28, 2008, at Oakland University.

Normal AROC event- tech and registration offically open at 10am, close at 1pm sharp.

There will be a drivers meeting at 10:30 or so, and the first car out should be at 11am.

If the weather is good, free fun runs will be given to all who volunteer to work, while the normal fun runs will be $2/run.

Cost will be $15/AROC members, $20/ Council members, $25 for all others.

We are very much on for tomorrow, and if you look at the Red Bull Races page, we are not in the area for most viewing, but we are at the beginning/end of the course, so we should see some planes. Pretty cool to be in Detroit and autocross cars at the same time planes are doing the exact same thing on the river.

AROC Detroit is hosting DCSCC Champ event #4 on June 1.

The event will be held at Belle Ilse, tech and registration offically open at 10am, close at 1pm, and we hope to have cars starting running at 11am.

Cost will be $15 for AROC members, $20 for DCSCC members, and $25 for all others.

NOTE- June 1 is the weekend of the Red Bull Air Races, so expect some traffic as you come in and leave. But we should see some pretty spectacular flying!!

DCSCC Series Registration

If you have not registered for the DCSCC Series yet, you can still do it. As an added bonus, if you register before the next event on May 18th, it will be effective back to the first event of the year. This limited amnesty applies to team entries for clubs as well.

So, make sure you get your registration form to the registrar and your team lists to the pointskeeper before the next event.
